چکیده

Abstract Introduction L-arginine and its precursor, l-citrulline, are two amino acids involved in the production of nitric oxide (NO); as a result, they increase blood flow have been used to treat male sexual dysfunction (Alatas Yagci, 2004). Some lubricants gels contain l-arginine applied directly genital area flow. Although these products evaluated subjectively through patient reports increased warmth, arousal, orgasm, our knowledge, not quantitatively women. Moreover, effect combining both l-citrulline reported medical literature. Objective To evaluate whether topical gel containing increases clitoris. Methods Sonography clitoris was performed on healthy 32-year-old volunteer before after applying externally vulva. The “before” scans were obtained using neutral ultrasound (without or l-citrulline). This allowed us verify that observations due active ingredients gel, from massage associated with application. Control images without could be obtained, since acquisition requires order reduce acoustic impedance. Philips Lumify™ (Koninklijke N.V., Amsterdam, Netherlands) L12-4 linear array transducer (4-12 MHz). Clitoral assessed qualitatively (color Doppler images), well (peak systolic velocity, end diastolic resistive index deep artery clitoris). Results Blood application at time points. maximum PSV also 6.2 cm/s (before), 8.6 (5 minutes) 13.9 (15 minutes). EDV 1.4 1.7 9.5 RI 0.8 5 minutes. After 15 minutes, decreased 0.3, explained by disproportional compared PSV. Conclusions results this pilot study suggest clitoral use l-citrulline. These findings can help clinicians inform patients female dysfunction. Difficulty achieving stimulation is major cause Clinicians counsel about Disclosure No

Administration of L-arginine plus L-citrulline or L-citrulline alone successfully retarded endothelial senescence

L-citrulline and L-arginine supplementation has been shown to have several beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system. Nitric oxide (NO) protects against the progression of atherosclerosis and is synthesized by nitric oxide synthase (NOS), which converts L-arginine (L-Arg) into L-citrulline (L-Cit). Our previous study revealed that chronic administration of a combination of L-Cit and L- Ar...

Reengineering of a Corynebacterium glutamicum L-arginine and L-citrulline producer.

Toward the creation of a robust and efficient producer of L-arginine and L-citrulline (arginine/citrulline), we have performed reengineering of a Corynebacterium glutamicum strain by using genetic information of three classical producers. Sequence analysis of their arg operons identified three point mutations (argR123, argG92(up), and argG45) in one producer and one point mutation (argB26 or ar...

Rapid enzymatic assays for L-citrulline and L-arginine based on the platform of pyrophosphate detection.

Rapid determination of L-citrulline and L-arginine, physiologically important amino acids, is a beneficial technique from the scientific and medical viewpoints. In this study, enzymatic assays for L-citrulline and L-arginine were established and evaluated. L-Citrulline assay was constructed by coupling argininosuccinate synthetase to a pyrophosphate detection system, in which pyruvate phosphate...

L-Citrulline, but not L-arginine, prevents diabetes mellitus-induced glomerular hyperfiltration and proteinuria in rat.

Diabetes mellitus–induced oxidative stress causes increased renal oxygen consumption and intrarenal tissue hypoxia. Nitric oxide is an important determinant of renal oxygen consumption and electrolyte transport efficiency. The present study investigates whether l-arginine or l-citrulline to promote nitric oxide production prevents the diabetes mellitus–induced kidney dysfunction. Glomerular fil...
